OCTOBER IN LABIN AND RABAC
Enjoy the autumn colours and the atmosphere of rural life and take a walk down St. Florentius' trail to the picturesque village of Kranjci. New signs lead you straight to the church dedicated to St. Florentius, one of the most beautiful Istrian Romanesque churches, which is included in the national Protected Heritage List. World Walking day is celebrated in October (on the 15th), and on October 27th people of Kranjci celebrate their saint patron's day. The feast starts with a mass, followed by gathering over home- made cakes and local wines. The Romanesque church was built in the mid-6th century. It was dedicated to the bishop St. Florentius. There is a valuable 6th century altar and stone plates decorated with braided ornamentation. On your way back, have a break at a near-by Rogočana tavern and try the local specialties sitting next to the fireplace, where you can hear the legend on the hidden Greek treasure.
How to get there: Follow the road from Labin Old town towards the cemetery of St. John and Koromačno. Trail length: 20 minutes from the village Kranjci.
