Adriatic Games, Rabac, 18 June

Enjoy in plenty of fun and unusual games at international event Adriatic Games. This year too Rabac hosts one of the qualifying competitions, and the waterfront will be full of adrenalin and entertainment for all ages. Contestants will compete in various disciplines: sea Alka (equestrian competition), treasure hunt, archery, water basketball, rowing, climbing for prosciutto, up to wine and fish baskets carrying. With a lot of temperament, enjoy the rivalry without limits and relaxed atmosphere by the sea.

Labin Old Town Night Sightseeing Tour

On Tuesdays, from 14 June to 13 September, head to Labin Old town, a centuries-old architectual pearl of Istria and Croatia and enjoy a free night sightseeing tour. Your female guides dressed as Sentona-the patroness of travelers-will introduce you with the ancient people known as Liburni and the outcome of the battle with the Uskoks, while their male colleagues wearing miners' uniform will proudly tell you all about the famous Labin Republic and the local miners' riot. Discover medieval secrets and legends, find out who invented a speedometer, how a replica of a mine is now located in a Baroque palace and wander around the house of Matthias Flacius, Labin-born theologian and a close associate of Martin Luther. Picturesque noblemen’s places will take you through ancient times when a horrible Cauldron Act was used. Tours start at 9:30 PM in front of Info point in Labin Old town, and finish at 11 PM in front of Negri palace with indigenous Istrian produce tasting. All tours are free of charge, available in Croatian, English, German and Italian.

Rabac Summer Carnival, 18 June

Let your summer begin in a fun and joyful way in Rabac. Join Rabac Summer Carnival traditionally organized by the local carnival group Labinjonska Kompanija Domaća Folšarija Colourful and noisy parade welcomes carnival groups from Croatia and abroad. The main parade starts at 7 Pm in front of Narcis Hotel in Maslinica bay. Listen to brass orchestra, accordions, drums and trumpets and dance with imaginative masks and put on a costume of something you’ve always wanted to be, but never dared to do so. Participants will perform fun acts and dance at Rabac waterfront, and afterwards the parade continues its way to Girandella beach, where the closing party will take place.

Classical Summer, Labin, 30 June

Traditional classical music summer season in Labin opens with guitar, lute and piano evening performance by Ante Milić (piano) and Ema Stein (lute and guitar). Enjoy the sounds of the most popular medieval musical instrument in a unique atmosphere of medieval parish church of the Blessed Virgin Mary Nativity in Labin Old town. The concert starts at 9 PM, and Classical Summer in Labin continues till the end of August.

 

Diving in Rabac and the Surroundings

Discover of the most beautiful underwater locations in Croatia. From Plomin bay to cape Crna punta, the seabed is known for its abundance of underwater wildlife and diving attractions - sunken ship wrecks in Vela Vrata channel. In 1914, a merchant steam ship Lina ran aground on the coast of cape Pečen near Cres, and cargo steamship Vis sleeps in the depths of cape Mašnjak at the entrance to Plomin bay. The seabed near Girandella beach enthuses over its large depth, many stone cascades and crevices with corals and sponges. Waters around cape Babino at the end of Rabac bay are known for gorgonians and sponges. The walls of St. Marina are divers’ favorite spot thanks to three large reefs descending directly off the beach down to 55 meters in the open sea thus making diving possible even and when the weather doesn’t allow boat sailing. Valamar Camping site Marina**** is located in Sveta Marina. Besides its excellent location right at the sea this campsite provides full service from its diving center- from bottling, diving courses, boat trips and equipment rent, up to the pool suitable for beginners’ training, diving equipment washing area, mobile homes with diving equipment storage space and other facilities. The divers’ paradise also includes relax infinity pool for initial training at an adequate depth. You can learn to dive in Rabac, at Girandella diving center on one of the most beautiful pebble beaches in Rabac that carry the Blue Flag, or in Maslinica bay near campsite Oliva.
