FOLLOW THE WOMEN SAINTS
Start of Advent is the ideal time to take a walk down the Labin women saints’ path with the most beautiful churches dedicated to Holy Mary. The trail begins at the parish church of the Blessed Virgin Mary Nativity from 1336, which houses holy relics of St. Justus, saint patron of Labin whose feast is celebrated on third November. Nearby is the most beautiful church within the city walls - St. Mary of Mount Caramel (Our Lady of Mount Caramel) from 1615 that belonged to the local latifundial family Depangher-Manzini. After the renovation it was transformed into an art gallery ‘Alvona’, the center of artistic life in old town. At the entrance to the town there is the church of St. Mary of Consolation (Our Lady of Health) which houses a valuable collection of fifteen wooden sculptures and nine oil paintings from the 17th century depicting the Virgin. At the exit from Labin you will see a medieval church of St. Mary Magdalene with the most spectacular view on the old town. On the feast of St. Barbara on fourth December it is especially festively in Raša where there is a church of the said woman saint. This modernist church dedicated to the patron of miners was built in 1937 in the form of an inverted coal wagon while the bell tower looks like a miner's lamp.
