Labin Carnival

This year Labin carnival group Labinjonska kumpanija, domoća folšarija marks its 35th anniversary by throwing a big birthday party in the craziest month of the year. One-month carnival rule began in late January when the masked crowd took the town keys from the mayor of Labin, and hung the carnival doll called Šontul at Labinskih rudara Square. Children's parade will pass through Labin on February 5, while the main carnival parade takes place on Zelenice Street on Saturday, February 25. On Shrove Tuesday, February 28 the carnival doll will be burnt followed by children's masquerade party.

Labin Town Gallery - Exhibition Chasing the Clouds (Armano Jeričević)

Sixteen years ago Zagreb artist Armano Jeričević, a dentist and graduate movie director student left the conventional urban life and moved with his family in the abandoned hamlet in the heart of Istria. By living the sustainability in accordance with the rhythms of his artistic reality, his life and art are a combination of philosophy and esotericism which is subtly reflected in his works. Exhibition Chasing the Clouds consist of printed photos and experimental video work on the subject of his personal conceptual act which he named ‘Sense Manufacture’. He runs his family farm under the same name, as well as a trans-modern art workshop - gallery in the abandoned Istrian hamlet. Jeričević has exhibited in group and solo exhibitions in Croatia and abroad (Marrakech, Grand Rapids, Grožnjan, Višnjan, Rijeka, Zagreb). His works are represented in printed project of the international art magazine Visions libres (Photography, Culture and Contemporary Art).
The exhibition is on display at Labin Town Gallery until February 25, 2017.

Biking Holiday in Rabac

Hidden Charms Promenade for Lovers

After your romantic Valentine lunch or dinner at Nostromo restaurant in Rabac, enjoy a walk with your loved one down one of the most beautiful Istrian promenades along the Rabac coastline. When you leave the restaurant follow the promenade and go to St. Andrew’s peninsula with the 15th century chapel dedicated to St. Andrew, the oldest building heritage in Rabac. Take a photo next to the most attractive Rabac artistic sculpture ‘The Pearls’ by Vasko Lipovac, located on a rock beneath the chapel. The promenade leads on next to lanterna (a lighthouse in Croatian) with beautiful panoramic views of the sea and the nearby island of Cres. At the end the promenade passes to gravel road leading to a secluded Prižnja cove where the trail continues to Prohaska, one of the most beautiful parts of Rabac. Named after the Prohaskas, a merchant family from Rijeka, originally from the Czech Republic, who owned a holiday mansion in this place, which was destroyed in the past. Sea coves with white pebbles, crystal clear sea and air bathed in aromatic scents of pine and rosemary will create the moments you’ll never forget.

Labin World of Ceramics

For twenty years now ceramics artists Roberta Franković and Aleks Klobas have been creating utensils, decorative and artistic ceramic products which are a well-known souvenir from Labin and Rabac. Decorative wall facades depicting Labin old town buildings, traditional Istrian jugs, bottles for Istrian olive oil, sea inspired jewelry sea and colorful Rabac boats are only part of range of the hand-made products from their Keramika A.R. workshop. In the workshop, you can see part of the assortment and order a design to suit your preferences. If you’re into home decoration, you can choose the original rustic and modern bedside lamps, chain pendant lightning or hand-painted ceiling lights.
